2025 is coming to an end

I thought it was gonna be just another boring December, until the tragedy of Wang Fuk Court fire. It demonstrates how powerless and small human really is before the nature and universe. Some people said they deserved it to some extent, as most residents in Wang Fuk Court voted for DAB candidates a few years ago, indirectly helping with bid rigging and causing this fire. It's a heartless remark and only partially true. Still, I decided to donate a mere $500 HK dollars to help HK Red Cross organizing humanitarian aids. HK government setup a dedicated account to receive donations as well, but I don't trust them to put the money to good use.

Speaking of which, I decided to take some time to set up a bug out bag. In case of emergency, I can grab it and escape to safety. I am currently storing supplies and tools in a Xiaomi Daypack, but I am thinking of switching to the Rush 24 backpack by 5.11 as 10L storage space isn't enough for all the basic supplies in a bug out back, plus the daypack is not as sturdy as the Rush 24, and will likely break easily when treated badly in the wilderness or escaping fire. When researching for supplies, I realized Hong Kong has very little information on how to properly prepare to stay alive in dire situations like typhoons, fire, floods, war. It seems unlikely we will ever need to evacuate Hong Kong to escape a big disaster like wildfire or volcano eruptions. But it never hurts to prepare. For now, I am using some of the US government's guides to help me, they are pretty good reads.

Looking forward, I plan to resume studying for CCNA in January. I admittedly slacked a lot, likely because I have a job now, I became complacent. I will pick it up some time later, as I want to ensure that I earn enough to sustain myself and to save some money for investments as well.

It's Christmas Day today, so I wish people who might read this post a happy Christmas Day.
