Software & Services
- Porkbun for Domain Management - Fair prices, helpful support, minimal upselling. Been a happy customer for 5+ years.
- Scribbles for Blog - The developer behind this service is a nice guy, give it a try.
- Vercel for my bio page and branded url - I needed something more than GitHub Pages, Vercel delivered.
- Pop!_OS for Desktop OS - Linux is user centric and powerful. I installed Pop for compatibility with NVIDIA GPU. I have Endeavor OS installed on my Laptop.
- Discord to connect with my friends - Yes, it's horrible privacy nightmare that scans your messages. But it's the only way I can connect with my online friends.
- Signal to message my irl friends and family - I talk with my mom and irl friends on Signal only. People at work still use WhatsApp, I really wish I could just throw it away.
- DuckDuckGo for Internet Searches - The OG, raised awareness about how Search Engines can harm your privacy. Bang search is super useful. Looking into alternatives like Kagi and Brave Search.
- Koofr for Cloud Storage - Offers a lifetime plan on StackSocial. You could get Managed NextCloud from Hetzner for $5/mo, but Koofr works for me.
- Bitwarden for Password Management - The most mature solution around, and it's free. Don't use LastPass.
- Stratum for 2FA Management - There are many 2FA apps available on the market. None can beat Stratum yet.
- Tuta for E-mail - Just ditch Gmail. Tuta is a bit slow though, alternatively try Proton Mail.
- Firefox for Desktop Browser - Better than Brave. Looking forward to Ladybird's development.
- Brave for Mobile Browser - Firefox on Android sucks. Brave offers best protection and adblocking.
- Niagara Launcher for android home launcher(affiliate link) - I love how clean it is, bought the lifetime version. The affiliate link is for you to try Niagara Pro for 50 days, I don't get anything of value in return.
- micro to edit text in terminal emulator - Vim is alien tech to me, Nano is too bland. Micro is just right.
Everyday Carry
- Victorinox Midnite Manager on my keychain - The most reliable tool on my keychain. I use knife, scissors and pen the most. Used to carry a Leatherman Micra, but Victorinox is superior in quality.
- Victorinox Swiss Card Lite in my wallet - For emergency. The knife is surprisingly handy for opening boxes, chips bags and letters.
- Victorinox Fieldmaster in backpack - For when I need a bigger knife or scissors. The smaller blade and screwdriver is very useful as well.
- Fisher Matte Black Bullet Space Pen - Small, compact, and always ready. The only complaint is the Medium Point refill is too large for my messy handwriting.
- Hydrapak Flux - I needed a water bottle that holds 1L water and is able to fit in a tighter backpack when it contains no liquid. Easier to clean and refill than their Stow model.
- Garmin Forerunner 265 Music - I bought this smartwatch to escape Xiaomi ecosystem. Accurately tracks exercise and heart rates.
- Kobo Clara Colour - E-readers help protect my eyes when reading text. The only complaint is that it disconnects from WiFi very often.
